A gear lever for a car model in 1:24 scale, the D form of the Hobby Design brand, is a replacement for an interior detail with a separately made part.
Responsibility details are not available.
A replacement interior part for models of passenger and racing cars. In a kit a gear lever tends to be part of a larger whole and its shape matches that, because the mold has to allow the part to be taken out. A separate lever has no such limit, so it keeps a slender profile and a sharp transition between the individual parts even after paint is sprayed on.
It pays off most on models that have the doors open, the roof folded down or glazing without tinting. Beside the seats, the steering wheel and the pedals, the lever completes the scene inside a car and gives it scale, because a viewer judges the size of the whole cabin by it. On racing specials with a cage and switches a cabin is moreover richer, so the fine parts support each other.
Before drilling, mark the position with a fine point and check that the lever will not collide with the seat or with the handbrake. Apply the paint with a brush in thin coats, so that the transition between the shaft and the knob does not fill in. When you want to suggest wear, add a breath of a lighter tone to the knob in the places the driver touches most often; the effect has to stay barely noticeable, otherwise it looks artificial.
The item is an interior accessory; a model of a car is not part of it.
