1:32 A6M5c/7 Reisen from Dead Design is a masking set for the glazing frames of the late versions of the Japanese carrier fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
Masking of the frames for two related late versions of the Japanese carrier fighter, as the name gives them. The cockpit of the Reisen consists of a fixed windscreen, a sliding center section and fixed rear glazing, and the rear part has diagonal dividing bars that hand-cut tape follows poorly. In 1:32 scale this is an area the size of a thumb, and any unevenness of the frame is immediately visible.
The version marked with the letter c was the heaviest of the Reisens used in combat. Further large-caliber guns were added in the wing, an armor plate behind the pilot and an armored windscreen were fitted, which made the machine tougher but cost it the agility it had originally been famous for. The following version was created with attacks on shipping targets in mind: it received a strengthened structure and a rack under the fuselage so that it could carry a bomb. Both fall in the closing stage of the war, when the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service was struggling against an opponent in superior strength.
Mask the fixed rear glazing first, while you still have access to it from every side. Work from the smallest pieces to the larger ones, because the small triangles get lost. Apply the paint at right angles so that the stream does not push under the edge, and let it dry thoroughly between coats. Lift the masks before the finish hardens, and the edge will stay sharp without tearing.
