Eduard LööK 1:32 Bf 109K-4, instrument panel and belts

This is a detail set (an accessory) from the LööK range by the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not an aircraft model or a kit: the box contains a finished, fully colored 3D printed instrument panel and etched steel seat belts for the cockpit of the Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4 in 1:32 scale. The set is conceived for the Kotare kits. The point of the LööK range is a short cut to a professional result: the panel comes from the factory with faithful dials, instrument glasses and a matching interior shade, so the most demanding part of painting a cockpit falls away. All you do is replace the original plastic part with it and glue it in.

Use

• Replace the instrument panel from the kit with the 3D printed part from the set; its seating respects the geometry of the cockpit of the base kit.
• Cut the print supports off with a sharp knife and sand the mark down gently; sand resin with respiratory protection (a respirator, ideally wet) and then wash the part in lukewarm water with detergent.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue, because cement for plastic acts neither on printed resin nor on etched metal. Apply the drop in one spot, so that it does not run onto the finished colored surface.
• Separate the steel belts from the fret with a scalpel, shape them with tweezers and glue them onto the seat before the fuselage is closed.
• Painting the panel and the belts is not necessary: the look can only be fine-tuned with a gentle wash and a matte or satin clear coat.

Who the set is for

For modelers who are building the Bf 109K-4 in 1:32 scale and want to reach a convincing cockpit quickly without laborious hand painting of the instruments. Thanks to the finished colored panel the set is within reach of less experienced modelers too; working with etched parts and cyanoacrylate glue, however, calls for a steady hand and a sharp scalpel.

The set is supplied as a 3D printed colored part and etched belts. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
