Kits-World 1:32 P-47D Thunderbolt Ponnie and Deacon Dandy is a decal sheet for large-scale models of the American Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet from the British manufacturer Kits-World in 1:32 scale, intended for models of the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter. It is not a kit but a standalone set of markings with which you supplement or replace the decals supplied in the box. The sheet is devoted to the machines named Ponnie and Deacon Dandy; the exact extent of the markings and the individual schemes are shown by the illustration on the packaging, so compare them with the model you are building before buying. The printing is carried on a thin carrier film, so once dry the decal leaves no pronounced step on the surface.
The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was a single-engine fighter with a radial engine and a turbocharger, one of the most numerously built American fighters of the Second World War. Characteristic of it were the robust all-metal structure, the long range and the gun armament housed in the wings. Besides escort duties the machine was also widely used for attacks on ground targets. Names such as Ponnie or Deacon Dandy are period paintings and inscriptions applied to the fuselages of particular aircraft; with units deployed in Europe this was common practice.
The basis of success is a smooth gloss surface. Once the camouflage is finished, spray the places under the decals with gloss clear and let it cure properly. On a matte surface air is trapped under the carrier film and the decal goes gray around the artwork. Cut the pieces out one at a time, not in groups, and soak them in clean lukewarm water. Move them onto the model across a thin layer of water, fine-tune the position with a soft brush and only then blot off the excess water with a paper towel laid against the side.
The package contains decals only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
