A paper model of the PZL P-37B twin-engine bomber in 1:33 scale from the publisher Gomix Fly Model. It is not a plastic kit: the model is built from printed sheets, and the parts are cut out, formed and glued. The 1:33 scale is traditional for paper aircraft models and gives the finished model a respectable size as well as room for detail. The exact extent of the sheets, the number of parts and any supplementary sets are given on the box and in the manufacturer's instructions.
The PZL.37 Los was a Polish twin-engine bomber of the second half of the 1930s, an aerodynamically clean all-metal low-wing monoplane with retractable landing gear. The P-37B version differed from the earlier form in having more powerful radial engines and twin fins. For its day it was a capable machine with a favorable ratio of load to weight, one that stood comparison with the foreign types of the same category. The machines entered service shortly before 1939 and some of the aircraft later found themselves outside Poland.
A paper model calls for different tools from plastic: a sharp scalpel with replaceable blades, a cutting mat, a metal ruler, PVA glue for paper and a blunt tip for scoring folds. Do not cut the parts out in advance but gradually, so that they do not warp. It is usual to tone the cut edges with a colored pencil or a marker in the color of the print, otherwise the white paper shows through. Form the cylindrical surfaces of the fuselage and the engine nacelles in advance by drawing them over the edge of a table or a round rod. The frames and bulkheads are best stiffened with heavier board. The finished model can be sealed with a matte spray varnish applied from a distance in several very light coats.
The model is supplied as a set of printed sheets to be cut out and glued. A scalpel, glue, stiffeners and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
