About product

Holographic film for the optics of the ASLAV-PC Phase 3 vehicle in 1:35 scale

This set from the brand SX-Art is an accessory for a kit, not a model of the vehicle. It contains self-adhesive film with a holographic effect shaped for the optical elements of the armored personnel carrier ASLAV-PC in its Phase 3 version in 1:35 scale. It goes on the places of the periscopes, the vision ports and the lenses, where plastic moldings come across as flat, and replaces them with a surface that glints and changes color at different angles.

The real subject

The ASLAV is an Australian wheeled armored vehicle with eight driven wheels, derived from the widespread family of light armored vehicles of North American design. The PC variant is a carrier without a gun turret, intended to carry a squad and for support tasks. The designation Phase 3 corresponds to a later stage of modernization with added protection and equipment. Thanks to its layout the vehicle has a lot of observation instruments, so the optics make up a prominent part of its appearance.

Usage tips

Put the film on a perfectly dry, varnish-sealed surface. Lift the individual elements with the tip of a scalpel, carry them with tweezers and press them down, and do not touch the adhesive sides with your fingers. Paint the surface under the film in a dark color in advance and the glint will stand out. On a vehicle with so many small vision ports it pays to go one at a time and to check the seating straight away. Finish the rest of the build, that is the decals, the varnishes and the weathering, beforehand, because washes and pigments would fog the holographic surface.

Who the set is for

  • modelers of modern wheeled vehicles in 1:35 scale
  • diorama builders whose model is looked at from close up
  • anyone interested in prominent detail without having to cut clear plastic
  • modelers who want to set the optics apart from the surrounding finish of the vehicle

This is an accessory for a kit. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

Self-adhesive holographic film prepared for the optical elements of the vehicle. Neither the kit nor paints are included.

Yes, the work is simple, it just calls for tweezers, a sharp scalpel and a steady hand. The elements are small.

It goes on the surfaces of the lenses and the vision ports and gives them the look of optics. It is not a mask for spraying; it stays on the model permanently.

Yes, matte varnish would suppress the glint. Varnish before the film goes on, not over it.
