1:35 Autralian ASLAV accessories set

The real subject

The ASLAV is a wheeled armored vehicle of the Australian army that serves in several versions, from a reconnaissance variant with a turret to transport and support versions. On overseas deployments the vehicles are recognizable by the quantity of equipment and cargo hung on the hull and on the racks, so two vehicles of the same version look different every time.

What the set adds to the model

This 1:35 accessory set is meant for finishing a model that is already built. Equipment and cargo spread about break up the large empty areas of armor, give the whole thing a sense of scale and turn a vehicle off the display stand into a machine in the field. It pays to keep a sense of proportion: a few well-placed pieces do more for credibility than cargo on every free surface.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before gluing, rinse them and let them dry properly so that the primer will hold. Cut the excess material and the marks left by production off a little way from the part with a sharp blade and carefully sand what remains. Cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) is a safe choice, because it holds on resin and on plastic. Painting is easier before fitting: spray the primer, paint the individual pieces separately, unify them with a light dark wash and pick out the edges with a dry brush.

Who it is for

The set is meant for modelers who are building modern Australian vehicles or dioramas and want to give the model a working look without the labor of making their own accessories. It calls for no special experience; care when cleaning up small parts is enough. The exact contents, the piece counts and the recommended procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
