An injection-molded plastic kit of the American attack helicopter Bell AH-1W Super Cobra in 1:35 scale from the production of the manufacturer Trumpeter. This release captures the later form of the machine with the modified exhausts (Turned Exhaust System), which deflected the exhaust gases and reduced the infrared signature of the helicopter. The kit is richly subdivided and offers a large number of parts; check the exact package contents against the enclosed instructions.
The AH-1W Super Cobra was a twin-engine attack helicopter of the United States Marine Corps which entered service in 1986. It was derived from the single-engine Cobra, but thanks to its more powerful twin-engine powerplant and its ability to carry both anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles it became a universal strike machine. The system of modified exhausts reduced the heat signature and raised its resistance to infrared-guided missiles. It served with the Marine Corps for decades.
Given the higher number of parts, follow the instructions and carefully finish the interior and the cockpit before closing the fuselage. Assemble the rotor head and the underwing stores separately. Apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush, mask the glazing, apply the decals onto a gloss coat and bring the panel lines out with a wash; rubbing and pigments will help to suggest operational wear.
