A masking set of stencils for the tiger scheme of the Mi-24 helicopter in 1:35 scale from DN Models: cut masks for spraying an irregular animal pattern.
Responsibility details are not available.
An extensive set of cut masks from DN Models serves to spray the striking tiger coloring onto the Mi-24 attack helicopter in a large scale. It is not a model or a part for one but a tool that turns the hardest discipline of painting into the work of one afternoon.
The irregular stripes of an animal pattern spray poorly freehand: tape breaks, boundaries wander off and when the motif is repeated along the whole length of the fuselage every mismatch shows. Cut masks hold the shape and the spacing exactly as they were designed, and the result is repeatable on both sides of the machine. With a scheme that covers the whole area of a large helicopter, that means hours of work saved.
First apply the lighter base shade and let it cure well, because a mask tears fresh varnish away. Then lay the stencils on gradually, section by section, not all at once, so that they do not curl on rounded surfaces. Spray the darker color perpendicularly and lightly, so that it does not bleed under the edge. Do the removal with a pull along the surface, not straight up. Finally unify the transitions with a translucent misting of the base shade.
The set contains only stencils for painting; a helicopter and paints are not supplied with it.
