Responsibility details are not available.
The Einheitsdiesel was an attempt to solve the chaos in German truck transport with a single set of drawings. From 1937 seven manufacturers built the same three-ton vehicle to common documentation, with drive to all six wheels, independent suspension and a diesel engine. Technically it turned out splendidly, economically catastrophically: it was expensive and demanding to make and to maintain, and so after some twelve thousand examples production was halted at the beginning of the 1940s in favor of ordinary road chassis. The machines that were built, however, served on and were distributed across all the fronts.
The letter designation Kfz. 61 belongs to the purpose-built signals body that the vehicle carried instead of an ordinary cargo bed. Vehicles like that often stood off the hard roads, and that is why the off-road tread design from the Fulda tire works, which this set brings, suits them. Because it is a six-wheeled vehicle, the exchange concerns not only the front end but the whole set of tires, which is also the reason the item is bulkier than sets intended for the front axle alone.
On a vehicle with drive to all the wheels it pays to distribute the traces of wear unevenly. The rear wheels turn on the spot more often in the field, so more caked earth belongs there between the tread lugs, whereas the front pair tends to be rubbed clean by grass and branches. Shade the hubs darker than the rubber.
