A resin accessory set in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Mantis Miniatures, intended for detailing a model of the Rosomak wheeled armored personnel carrier. It is an aftermarket addition and not a model of the vehicle: the base kit has to be bought separately. The parts are supplied as unpainted castings that have to be cleaned up, cut off the casting blocks and painted before use.
The KTO Rosomak is an 8x8 wheeled armored personnel carrier taken into service with the Polish armed forces in the first decade of the 21st century and built under license from a Finnish vehicle. It carries infantry and also serves as a platform for derived versions, and it has been deployed at home as well as on missions abroad. It is precisely on vehicles in the field that things accumulate which an injection-molded kit does not normally include: stowage, crates, packaging, securing fittings and other small items that set the vehicle apart from its factory-fresh state. This is exactly the gap that resin accessory sets fill.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release residue; without that the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a sharp knife and wet-sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Lay the parts out dry on the model before gluing and find your composition; an accessory that has been glued down and painted is hard to move. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and hold the small parts with tweezers. Apply a thin primer, then the base shades. Paint the stowage in different shades from the hull, otherwise it will merge with the vehicle, and unify the whole at the end with a light wash and dust pigment: it is the contrast between cleaner and dustier surfaces that makes the vehicle convincing.
The set is an addition to a model, not a kit of the vehicle. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
