About product

The real subject

The Panzer IV was the most numerously built German medium tank of the Second World War and changed literally from series to series during production. The running gear went through that change too. The drive sprocket, that is the toothed wheel at the front of the chassis that passes the power of the transmission to the track, was given a differently treated disc and rim in the later period than the early form. On a finished model the difference is clearly noticeable, because the wheel stays largely exposed even with the track fitted and the eye settles on it as soon as you look from the side.

What the set offers

It is an add-on set of drive sprockets in the late form for 1:35 scale. The wheels are finished replacement parts for those from the kit, so there is no gluing from halves and no cleaning up afterward of the seam that hides worst of all between the teeth.

  • Panzer IV drive sprockets in the late form
  • 1:35 scale
  • Finished parts as a replacement for the wheels from the kit
  • The shape of the disc and the rim differs from the early form

Building and painting tips

Cut the excess material and the marks of manufacture off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the rest back, so that the teeth stay sharp. The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary cement for plastic will not join them; cyanoacrylate glue holds reliably. Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. It is worth spraying them separately, before you seat them in the running gear, because once the track is on you will no longer reach the inner side.

Who it is for

For modelers who build German vehicles in 1:35 scale and want the running gear in a form matching the late machines. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
