Combining several identical parts side by side is the quickest way to get a longer street frontage into a scene. A wall twelve and a half centimeters long will close off a small vignette by itself; two or three pieces in a row already create a run which gives the scene depth and leads the eye to the back, to what is meant to be the point.
A pair of pillars completes the masonry and flat tiles of the European type cover it from above. The height comes to six and a half centimeters. The surface carries a base layer, which brings out the definition of the joints and prepares the material for paint, so the first spraying falls away and the shades of brick and mortar can be begun.
The intact rendering with no cracks suits quieter scenes. A column at rest, a sentry at the entrance to a yard, equipment hidden in the shade. At the same time it will serve well as a surface for comparison beside a broken wall, because only in contrast does the extent of the destruction stand out and the viewer grasp what happened there.
A longer assembly has a practical advantage too. A wall built along the back edge of a base screens off the view into emptiness, and a display case then does not come across as though the scene ended somewhere for no reason. It is not necessary to line all the pieces up straight, though; a broken assembly with a pillar at the corner looks more natural, takes up less room in depth and at the same time offers the eye two different views depending on which side of the case a person looks from.
The scale is 1:35. The joints between the individual segments hide behind a pillar or a tuft of growth, so nobody will notice the transition in a finished scene.
