What the set is for

Colored windows give a church on a diorama a depth that masonry alone never has. Painting them in 1:35 scale with a brush is laborious, though, and the result tends to be coarse. A ready color print replaces that work. The set carries the sequence number 2 in the range of printed accessories; which subjects it contains is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

How to work with the fillings

Try the fit out dry and compare the size with the opening in the structure. Then lay the element against the window from behind and fix it around the perimeter, so that the glue does not reach the lit area. Work with the print with dry, clean hands; fingerprints and scratches cannot be taken off it afterward. The suitable glue is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Mount it only once the structure is painted and dusted, or the print will easily get dirty during further work.

Tips for working it into the scene

Stained glass comes out when there is clear space and light behind it. So leave at least a narrow gap inside the structure and do not fill the space behind the window with padding or glue.

• paint the inside of the structure dark and the subject will come forward
• on a damaged building part of the window opening can be left empty
• darken the edges of the opening so that the window does not look stuck on
• dust and soot on the masonry around the window will unify the scene
