A comprehensive add-on photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard for detailing the model of the German Tiger I heavy tank in its mid production form, 1:35 scale. It is not a tank model but an extensive package of photo-etched parts for a particular plastic kit. The set markedly raises the fidelity of the exterior and of the small features that injection-molded plastic cannot manage.
It typically holds thin fenders and their stiffeners, the grilles and screens of the engine compartment cooling vents, tool brackets, eyes, catches and other fine metal details. Etched sheet allows the real thickness of sheet-metal parts, which plastic cannot imitate.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Shape the bends over an edge; on the larger sheets a photo-etch bending tool helps. Fit the fenders and the grilles before the final painting and weathering. Apply primer to the metal parts so that the paint holds; the surfaces can then be brought out with a wash and pigments for dusty and muddy effects.
