A gray hull coating for Imperial Japanese Navy ships, listed in the Kure naval arsenal variant. Japanese warships received their paint at the arsenal that built or repaired them, and the shades used by different arsenals varied in both tone and saturation. Modeling paint lines therefore list them separately, and the builder chooses the one matching the ship and period being built. The paint comes from Gunze's Mr.Color line.
On the vertical hull surfaces, superstructures, funnels, gun turrets and steel equipment parts. Horizontal decks usually had a different finish — wood planking or a darker coating — so they are painted separately and the hull shade does not belong on them. It also works well on models of escort vessels and the small boats that belong to a ship.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before use. Large continuous hull areas are unforgiving of interrupted work, so spray them smoothly and in thin coats; every transition and applied coat shows on a smooth side. Use the thinner and mixing ratio per the manufacturer's instructions for this line. On a small model, gray reads darker than it looks on a real ship, so it pays to lighten the shade slightly at small scales. Rivets and welds stand out well after a dark wash that settles into the recesses.
The model, thinner, brushes and an airbrush are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
