A set of plastic figures in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Gecko Models. The subject is set by the name in place and time, that is, northwest Europe in June 1944. How many figures the set holds, how they are posed and whom they represent should be checked against the illustration on the packaging. The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted, on sprues.
Figures in 1:35 are the same scale as the vast majority of military vehicle kits, so they can be combined with vehicles, guns and scenic accessories in the same scale. It is the figures that give a diorama its scale and its story; a vehicle on its own on a base reads as static. The northwest Europe of 1944 is one of the most heavily covered periods in modeling, so matching vehicles and accessories exist for it as well.
Cut the parts off the sprue with plastic nippers rather than anything else and clean up the remains of the gate with a file, since snapping parts off a figure easily damages the detail. Sand back the mold seams on the hands and the equipment and fill any gap, as it shows more on a figure than on a vehicle hull. They are glued with a thin cement for plastic. Lay down a thin primer before painting to even the surface out, and then work in acrylics or oils. Shade the faces and the hands in glazes, layer by layer; the uniform comes alive with a dry brush on the edges of the folds and a darker glaze into them. It is practical to paint a figure separately and to seat it in the scene last.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
