The accessory replaces no part of a kit; it only makes it possible to create the pattern of the deck planks in paint. The cut matches the Trumpeter 05346 kit, so check before buying that this is the one you are building.
A sprayed deck looks too clean and even right after the mask is removed. A real surface is uneven: lighter in the middle where people walk, darker at the edges and around the drains. This is achieved by lightening a few planks with very thinned light paint and, conversely, with a dark filter in the places where dirt collects. Work in small areas and keep stepping back a meter; in 1:350 scale it is easy to overdo.
Before the weathering, have the deck sprayed with a thin coat of matte clear; on bare paint a wash soaks in unevenly and leaves blotches. Then apply the thinned dark wash with a brush into the gaps, not over the whole area, and pull the excess away with an almost dry cloth strictly in the direction of the planks. At the end you can lightly dust a more saturated shade around the anchor gear and the hatches, where the most dirt collects in service.
This is an accessory to a kit, not a model. The paints, the glue and the kit are not included in the package.
