It is not a kit; it is an addition to the plastic model of the battleship USS New Jersey (BB-62) in 1:350 scale, which you buy separately. The set is cut for one particular kit, Very Fire VF350911; check before buying that the model you want to use it on matches.
A molded deck has the planks suggested by an engraved line, which largely disappears once paint is sprayed on. A thin wooden veneer, by contrast, has the real grain of the fibers and microscopic differences in height between the planks, so it works in the light: the deck changes as the model is tilted and does not look like one flat area. On a ship in 1:350 scale that is a difference visible even from a distance.
Degrease the plastic deck thoroughly before gluing. Traces of mold release agent and grease from the fingers are the main reason why veneer starts to lift at the corners after a few days. Warm water with detergent and a soft brush are enough, then let it dry out completely and do not touch the part with a bare hand again. Peel the covering film off the adhesive side in sections rather than all at once, as an uncovered backing picks up dust at once. Keep the masking sheets from the package until the stage of painting the superstructures, so that the adhesive layer is not needlessly fouled.
The set is an accessory, not a ship model. The kit, glue, paints and stain are not included in the package.
