Z4 M40i Red is a red shade from the Number Five line, derived from the most powerful version of the BMW Z4 roadster of the latest generation. Unlike the racing reds, of which the brand has a whole range on offer, it is the color of a road automobile, that is a tone meant to look good on its own, without sponsor graphics.
The Z4 roadster returned at the end of the second decade of the millennium as a two-seater with a fabric roof and a front-mounted inline six-cylinder. The M40i designation belongs to its most powerful version. The body has a long hood, a cabin pushed back and deeply cut flanks, so red behaves on it differently than on an angular body: a highlight slides along the curve and gives away every irregularity in the ground. With a scale model the preparation of the surface therefore decides as much as the shade itself.
The shade aims at modelers who build present-day road automobiles and want a color tied to a particular type of car instead of a general red. The latest generation of this roadster was made in Austria and shares its technical basis with a Japanese coupe. The line keeps a blue variant for the same roadster as well, so there is a choice depending on which version of the car you are building.
