Fluorescente Bright Orange RAL2007

The color

A bright, light orange from the range of the Number 5 brand, carried according to the RAL standard under the number 2007. It is one of the bright shades, that is colors that in daylight come across as markedly more saturated than an ordinary orange. In the dark, however, they do not glow, as their effect is bound to the light falling on them.

Where a bright orange appears

A conspicuous orange is used on real vehicles and equipment everywhere a machine is meant to be seen before somebody overlooks it: on the warning areas of service and rescue vehicles, on airfield equipment, on the conspicuous stripes of training aircraft and on parts that are meant to draw attention to themselves. On a model it will therefore serve as a supplementary shade for small areas, not necessarily as the color of a whole body.

How to apply the paint

The effect of a bright shade rests on the base. Without a white or very light underlying layer the color will darken and all that is left of the whole effect is a muted orange, so spray the base first and let it cure. Then build up the top shade in thin layers; bright pigments cover poorly and you will not make up for that with one heavy application. Stir the contents of the container before taking any out, and the ratio of thinning and the recommended thinner are given by the maker's instructions. It is better not to display a finished model in direct sunlight, as bright shades take long exposure less well.
