A Number 5 modeling paint in a blue shade under the designation Gentian Blue, from a line named after automotive paints.
Responsibility details are not available.
Gentian Blue is a saturated blue from the range of the Number 5 brand. The colors of this line bear the names of automotive paints, so the shade aims above all at the bodies of car models, but it will serve wherever a blue surface is wanted. The tone is mixed ready, so you do not have to work your way to it by mixing of your own, and when topping up a coat later you will hit the same color.
Stir the contents of the container through thoroughly before work. The pigment settles at the bottom while standing and an unstirred paint will give a different tone and worse coverage. It can be applied with an airbrush as well as with a brush, and the ratio of thinning and the recommended thinner are given by the maker's instructions. Spray in several thin layers and let the surface flash off between them. One heavy layer floods the engraved panel lines, gathers into drops at the edges and dries far longer.
A blue looks different on a light base than on a dark one, which is why it pays to apply a base color beneath it on a body. That evens out the plastic, the filler and the sanded places and shows the flaws before you flood them with the top shade. Wash and degrease the model before spraying and work in a ventilated space away from dust. Close the container immediately after taking paint out and wipe the rim, otherwise the lid will dry shut in time.
For builders of car models who work with named body shades, and for anyone looking for a ready blue for the shelf. Thinner, base color, varnish and brushes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
