The kit captures the VIS-23461-10 commercial pickup, a vehicle derived from the off-road Lada 4x4. The model in 1:43 scale is interesting in that it represents present-day commercial equipment rather than history. In a collection full of classic trucks it works as a fresh contrast while keeping the same scale, so it can be built beside them.
Vehicles of the VIS marque are made in Tolyatti and are built on the proven running units of the Lada. The VIS-2346 family is derived from the off-road Lada 4x4, known here as the Niva. A passenger car became a light commercial vehicle with a cargo bed and with all-wheel drive retained, which opened a way for it to places where an ordinary delivery van gives up: building sites, forests, country tracks and municipal services. The number suffix in the designation sets apart the individual factory forms of this family. The vehicles remain in service to this day, so the model also fits a scene set in the present.
On a pickup, take care over the junction between the cab and the bed, because it is the place the eye notices first. Fit the parts dry, check the gaps and only then glue. The chassis and the wheels paint better separately from the body. Leave the body in a gloss shade, while the load floor is worth setting apart with a more matte surface, which gives you a realistic contrast. If you want a working look, add a fine spray of dust to the fenders and the lower edges and light scuffs to the edges of the bed. An off-road model will also take muddy residue in the tread of the tires.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
