Reskit 1:48 B-1B Lancer, nacelles with air intakes and early nozzles (closed engine bay) is a 3D printed resin detail set for the plastic model from Revell. It is not a kit of an airplane, but an accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is NOT a kit of an airplane: it is an extensive detail set in 3D printed resin that replaces the engine nacelles of the plastic model of the B-1B Lancer in 1:48 scale from Revell. The set settles the air intakes and the exhaust nozzles in their early form and is executed in the variant with the closed engine bay.
The manufacturer offers the nacelles in four combinations: early or late nozzles and a closed or open engine bay. This set is EARLY NOZZLES plus a CLOSED engine bay. The variant with the open engine bay and late nozzles is available separately.
A closed engine bay means the set does not reckon with uncovered service panels: the engines will not be visible. It is a legitimate and simpler choice for a modeler who does not want to open the skins of the nacelles and wants faithful intakes and nozzles above all.
Early versus late nozzles: the first B-1Bs had nozzles fitted with shrouds, which in modeling and aviation jargon are called turkey feathers. Because of cracking and vibration they were removed from the aircraft, so the later machines have their nozzles uncovered. Choose the early or the late execution, therefore, according to the era and the particular aircraft you are building.
The Rockwell B-1B Lancer is an American supersonic strategic bomber with a variable-geometry wing. The four engines are housed in pairs in nacelles under the wing center section, which is exactly why the intakes and the nozzles are such a striking detail on a model and why refining them is worth it.
The set is a more demanding intervention in a model: try the nacelles dry and bring them together with the plastic gradually. Resin does not react to cement for polystyrene, so make the joints with super glue, and on large areas with an epoxy with a longer setting time. First wash the parts in warm water with detergent, so that no print resin residue is left on them and the paint will hold. Sand only wet, because dust from resin is harmful to health and does not belong in the lungs; use a respirator. Paint the intake ducts light and strengthen the shadows in the depth; the nozzles will come alive with metallic shades and a fine wash.
A detail set, not a model. The base plastic kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
