The BAC 167 Strikemaster in the larger 1:48 scale – an injection-molded plastic kit of the British training and light combat aircraft from Kovozavody Prostejov.
Responsibility details are not available.
Kovozavody Prostejov release this British training and combat aircraft as an injection-molded plastic kit. The larger scale gives enough room for the cockpit and the external stores, so the result is a model that holds its own on a display table even among larger types.
The Strikemaster grew out of the Jet Provost trainer, but it was given a more powerful engine, a strengthened wing with hardpoints and gun armament in the wing roots. Customers from the Middle East, Asia, Africa and New Zealand bought it for exactly this dual role: a school flight with a pupil in the morning, a patrol over a restless border in the afternoon. A number of machines therefore saw action, and the last examples were still serving well after the year 2000. Besides training and patrol flights it could also handle support of ground units, which in small air forces made it a universal tool.
Finish the cockpit with its two side-by-side seats before you glue the fuselage together – after that you will not reach it. It pays to mask the glazing, because there are many frames and they are narrow. Export camouflages tend to have sharp boundaries, so a stencil from modeling putty and a gloss clear intermediate coat under the decals serve well. Fit the external stores only after the fuselage and the wing have been painted, or masking around them will be awkward.
It is supplied unassembled and unfinished; no glue and no paints are enclosed.
