A set of photo-etched seat harnesses from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale, intended for the crew seats of the British twin-engine bomber Bristol Blenheim Mk.I. It is not an aircraft model but a small accessory that is glued into a plastic kit. The STEEL designation refers to the material, that is, to photo-etched steel. Unlike softer brass, steel sheet holds its shape after bending, so the harnesses can be draped realistically over a seat back or left to hang loose on the cushion. The exact number of straps and their color rendering do not follow from the name; check them in the manufacturer's catalog, as well as the match with the kit you are building.
The Bristol Blenheim Mk.I was a British twin-engine all-metal aircraft of the second half of the thirties, powered by Bristol Mercury radial engines. The crew was several men and the interior is clearly visible on a model thanks to the extensive glazing of the nose and the cockpit. That is exactly where small things like seat harnesses tell the most, because plastic kits mostly do not contain them at all and empty seats then look unfinished.
Separate the harnesses with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and handle them with fine tweezers. Steel photo-etch shapes easily, but make the bends smoothly, so that no sharp creases appear. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and go over it with a primer for metals. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue or with a medium for photo-etch. The buckles and fittings come out with a dark wash, while the strap itself will take light lightening with a dry brush. Glue the harnesses in at the very end, when the interior is painted and the seats are seated.
