Handles of the KM-1 and KM-1M ejection seat cast in resin, 1:48 scale are the finishing detail of the cockpit of a Soviet fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set brings finely cast ejection handles of the seats designated KM-1 and KM-1M, intended for kits in 1:48 scale. The plastic part of the seat from a kit tends to be simplified at this point or missing altogether, because the shape cannot be properly captured in a mold. A resin replacement removes this shortcoming.
The Soviet design bureaus fitted their fighters with a seat that fired the pilot out of the cockpit by a rocket impulse and then deployed the parachute automatically. Pulling the handles set off a fixed sequence of steps over which a person then had no influence. The seat became the standard on the most widespread Soviet supersonic types, and modelers therefore meet it in a whole range of kits.
In 1:48 scale the handles really are minute, so expect to work under a magnifier. Cut the frame with a fresh blade and put the finished part into a dish, so that it does not get lost. Finish the seat including the belts and only then settle the handles. A tiny amount of super glue applied with a wire is enough to hold them. The result stands out most when the cockpit is built with the canopy slid back.
