The EXPERT masking set for the F-14D Super Tomcat in 1:48 scale from the Czech brand New Ware, an extended set of cut kabuki templates that covers the cockpit, the wheels and further detail of the airframe.
Responsibility details are not available.
An extended set of precisely cut self-adhesive templates of Japanese kabuki paper tape from the Czech brand New Ware. It is not a model: it is an accessory for painting that on a large Super Tomcat in 1:48 scale turns hours of sticking down strips of ordinary tape into a couple of minutes of work.
The Super Tomcat is a large model and there is no shortage of masking jobs on it. The EXPERT version goes beyond the basic set: alongside the canopy and the landing gear wheels it also covers further detail of the airframe, so that when spraying the individual shades you simply lift off and apply pre-cut shapes instead of measuring and cutting. The result is sharp, repeatably accurate edges in the places the observer's eye looks for first.
Plan the order of the colors in advance and lift the templates off and put them back according to the painting sequence; kabuki tape holds reliably, but its low tack spares the coats already sprayed. On doubly curved surfaces warm the mask slightly and it will follow the shape better. Before spraying, always check that the edges are pressed down, especially on the large panes of the glazing.
This is a masking accessory for painting: the kit of the aircraft itself is not included in the package.
