The set contains eleven pylon parts for a model of the F-16 in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory to an existing kit, not a model of an airplane. Pylons are among the parts that plastic molds manage only in a simplified way: they tend to be thicker than they should be, with soft edges and without the fine detail of the attachments. Replacing them with more accurate parts therefore visibly changes the look of the whole underside of a model, especially when you are building a machine with a rich configuration of stores.
The F-16 is a single-engine multirole combat aircraft that from the middle of the 1970s became the most widespread fighter of Western design. It carries both weapons and equipment on pylons under the wings, under the fuselage and on the wingtips, from air-to-air missiles through guided and unguided bombs to drop tanks and pods. It is precisely the configuration of stores that determines how the machine looks, and it differs according to the operator, the version and the particular task. Different stations also have different types of pylon, so a set with several pieces covers more variants of fitting.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to rid them of the remains of mold release agent from the mold, as without that the paint holds badly. Separate them from the casting blocks with a fine-toothed saw, not with nippers, which easily crush the thin section of a pylon. Level the mating surfaces on sandpaper laid on a flat surface; only then will a pylon not sit crooked once glued. They are bonded with super glue, ideally after a trial fit done dry. Apply a primer before painting; pylons usually carry the same shade as the underside of the aircraft and their inner faces are worth darkening slightly.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
