Masking film for the two-seat versions of the F-16 in 1:48 scale. It contains shapes for the long cockpit canopy and for the windscreen, and that for the outer and the inner side. The target is the Hasegawa kit.

The letters B and D distinguish the two-seat trainer form of the Fighting Falcon. The B came from the original A series, the D from the later C series with more modern avionics. What matters is that neither version is merely a school machine: the instructor's station did not deprive the aircraft of combat capability and in a number of air forces two-seat examples were routinely assigned to live tasks, for example as lead machines when directing attacks on ground targets.
The cockpit of the Fighting Falcon is famous for its view. The canopy is formed by a single molded shell with no central frame, so the pilot sees forward and to the sides without interruption and over the edge of the fuselage even down below him. On the two-seat version the shell is noticeably longer and carries only two dividing lines: the frame of the windscreen and the rear arch. On a model that means a large continuous transparent area, where every drop of paint or fingerprint is noticed at once.
Before the masks are applied it is useful to polish the glazing with a sanding sponge of the finest grit and burnish it, because marks from the mold are clearly visible on such a large area. Only then do the cut shapes come into play. Once the camouflage is sprayed the film is lifted off and the area stays clear, with a sharp frame edge that a tape mask applied by hand would hold on a rounded shell only with difficulty.
