A colored 3D cockpit interior decal in 1:48 scale from Quinta Studio. It is not an aircraft model but a set of relief colored decals for detailing the cockpit of the plastic kit of the two-seat F-16D Block 50 from Kinetic (the newer 2022 mold). This is the more compact version of the set, aimed at the main parts of the cockpit. The set is made specifically for the Block 50 version, which differs from the Block 40 variant.
A 3D decal is a thin relief decal printed in color and with a raised structure. After soaking it slides off the backing paper and takes the place of laborious painting and of photo-etch. It gives the front and rear cockpits faithful colors, displays, switches and belts in a single step. The detail stays three-dimensional and readable even under a magnifier.
Degrease the surface and polish it with a gloss coat (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22) - the parts have no adhesive layer of their own and will not hold on a matte surface. Cut the part out, soak it for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slide it off the paper into place; in recesses a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin and would ruin the part. Follow the illustrations in the instructions.
