New Ware 1:48 F-4B Phantom II ADVANCED kabuki masks is a set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks for spraying a model of the Phantom II in 1:48 scale. It is not a model but an aid to painting.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of masking templates for a model of the F-4B Phantom II in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit — these are pre-cut self-adhesive masks that you stick onto the model and take off once it is sprayed. The material is so-called kabuki tape (washi tape): a thin paper masking tape of mild tack, which conforms well to rounded shapes and does not pull the underlying paint off when removed. That is exactly the main difference against ordinary masking tape — on a rounded canopy frame, kabuki tape lies without creases and paint does not creep under it.
The manufacturer has masks for this type in three levels of coverage — basic, this middle one and the highest. This item is the middle ADVANCED level, that is a wider scope than the glazing alone, but not the full scope of the highest variant. The particular list of masked places is stated on the box.
For anyone who builds the Phantom II in 1:48 scale and does not want to measure and cut the frame masking by hand. It saves hours of work and above all evens out the result — hand-cut tape tends to come out a different width on each side of the cockpit. A beginner who is afraid of masking will appreciate it, and so will an experienced modeler whose concern is time.
The set contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package. Check that the masks match the particular kit you are building — the shape of the frames differs between the molds of different manufacturers.
