Replacement wheels in 1:48 scale for the F-86K interceptor. An accessory to a kit; it replaces the wheels made from its parts.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-86K is the interceptor version of the Sabre intended for the European air forces of the North Atlantic Alliance. It starts from the F-86D machine, which differs in the cockpit and in the nose from the day fighters of the Sabre line: in the nose it carries a radar under a cover and the air intake is moved below it. The K version replaced the rocket armament with cannons. The nickname Sabre Dog took hold for this group of machines, although originally it belonged to the F-86D version.
The wheels belong among the parts where the difference against a kit is visible at first glance. Replacement sets are obtained precisely for the sake of the shape and the surface of the tire and for the sake of a cleanly separated wheel rim, that is for the sake of what is best seen from a distance on a standing model. Because a wheel stands on the base right next to the observer's eye, it is worth investing in it even on a model otherwise built out of the box.
The parts are not made of polystyrene, so cement for plastic kits does not hold on them; use cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down carefully, so that the roundness of the tire stays preserved. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Set the wheel rim and the tire apart in shade, and rather do not tone the tire to black; on a model a dark gray looks more convincing.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
