Photo-etched landing flaps for the Brewster Buffalo carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. The metal replacement makes it possible to build the machine with the surfaces lowered.
Responsibility details are not available.
The metal set from the Eduard brand offers a replacement for the landing flaps of the Brewster Buffalo carrier fighter. The thin etch shows the stiffeners and lightening holes that cannot be reproduced in an injection-molded part, and it opens up the option of building the aircraft at the moment just before touchdown. Inside there is a sheet of unpainted metal and a pictorial procedure.
The Brewster F2A-2 was the second production stage of the first all-metal carrier monoplane of the US Navy. It received a more powerful Wright Cyclone radial engine and better visibility from the pilot's compartment. In frontline service it lasted a short time and was soon replaced in the squadrons by more modern types. Exporting the same airframe to northern Europe, by contrast, made it a legend of the winter fighting there.
Separate the parts with a scalpel on a glass base and make the bends over a metal ruler. First rid the metal of grease, otherwise the primer will not hold. The lowered surfaces call for cutting off the plastic trailing edge of the wing, so lay the new assembly out dry first and only then reach for the glue.
The package contains the metal parts and the instructions only. The plastic kit, the paints and the glue are sold separately.
