Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter FM-2 Wildcat in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a compact model with engraved surface detail. The box contains plastic parts, clear canopy parts and decals, so you can build a fine carrier fighter straight from the box.
The Wildcat was originally a Grumman fighter, but the FM-2 version was built in large numbers by the Eastern Aircraft automotive division of General Motors. The FM-2 was a lightened fighter with a more powerful engine, intended mainly for operating from smaller escort carriers. You recognize it by its taller vertical tail, which compensated for the stronger torque reaction of the engine. Wildcats were among the mainstays of American carrier aviation in the Pacific as well as the Atlantic.
Use thin cement for plastic and finish and paint the cockpit first, before closing the fuselage. Apply primer before varnishing and lay the colors on with an airbrush. On naval tri-color schemes, restrained salt-water weathering and wear on the leading edges work well. The engraved surface detail comes out best after fine highlighting of the panel lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
