A set of replacement wheels for a 1:48 model of the Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik ground-attack aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik was a Soviet ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War and one of the most numerously built combat machines of all time. Its forward section was formed by an armored bathtub protecting both the engine and the pilot, which made the aircraft a difficult target for fire from the ground. That is exactly why it worked low over the battlefield, and its landing gear spent most of its life on field strips, in mud and in snow.
The set replaces the wheels from the model with new parts in 1:48 scale. On a finished aircraft the wheel is one of the most closely watched details: it sits low, it is looked at from a distance as well as up close, and a blurred transition between the hub and the tire can spoil the impression of an otherwise well-built model. The replacement wheels solve that transition through the shape of the part itself.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Cut excess material and production marks away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the rest down, watching the outline of the tire, where the shape is easily sanded away. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts and seat the wheels so that the aircraft stands level on all three points. The exact procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
