A Ki-61-II Kai photo-etched detail set in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Brengun is an accessory to a kit of this Japanese fighter: the set refines a model and does not include the model itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
An aftermarket accessory to a plastic kit of the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-61-II Kai fighter in 1:48 scale. The set is cut for one particular kit, the RS Models one, and replaces those parts that injected plastic cannot make thin and sharp enough. It is bought in addition to a model you already own.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was a Japanese fighter of the Second World War and exceptional among Japanese production fighters in having a liquid-cooled inverted V12 engine instead of a radial. Thanks to its slimmer fuselage it stood out from the other Japanese types at first glance. The Ki-61-II Kai version represented a later stage of development with a reworked airframe structure. It is exactly the slim fuselage and the clean transition of the cowling that make this aircraft a rewarding subject for modelers who want to show fine detail.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a scalpel against a hard surface and degrease them with alcohol, and only then apply a primer. They are bonded with thin super glue dispensed with a pin or a taut wire: straight from the bottle there will always be too much. On parts that are glued to plastic and have a larger area, two-part epoxy proves its worth, because it gives time to fine-tune the position. Apply the paint in thin coats so that the fine engraving is not filled in, and finally go over the instrument faces with a drop of gloss varnish, which reads like the glass of a dial.
This is an accessory to a model, not an aircraft kit. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
