A set of three-dimensionally printed parts from Eduard for a model of the American twin-engine Lockheed P-38J Lightning fighter in 1:48 scale. It deals with the barrels of the weapons grouped in the nose of the nacelle. It is not a model of the aircraft, but an assembly of replacement parts for a plastic kit already bought.
On the Lightning the armament is more visible than on other fighters - it is not hidden in the wing but grouped in the nose of the fuselage nacelle right in front of the pilot. Injection-molded plastic runs into its limit here: the barrels tend to be solid, thick and often with a parting line. A printed replacement holds a thin wall, an open muzzle and the right ratio of length to diameter, so the nose of the model looks convincing even when seen close up.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was a twin-engine fighter with a pair of tail booms and a central nacelle for the pilot. The armament consisted of four heavy machine guns and a cannon, placed together in the nose. It was precisely the concentrated armament, without the spread the wing weapons had, that was among its strong points. Among other things, the P-38J version brought a reworked cooling system and further changes to the power installation.

Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry. Separate the thin barrels from the carrier structure with shallow cuts of a sharp scalpel. They are glued with super glue dosed on a pin. Glue them in only after painting, decals and varnish, so that they are not in the way during masking. Do not forget to line the barrels up parallel - with concentrated armament every deviation is conspicuous.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
