Mil Mi-17 seatbelts STEEL 1:48 are photo-etched seat belts of steel for a model of the helicopter. They replace missing or coarse belts in the cabin and are added to a kit acquired separately.

A set of photo-etched seat belts from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Mil Mi-17 helicopter in 1:48 scale. The STEEL designation means that the belts are made of steel, not of softer brass. Steel holds its shape better after bending, so a belt can be convincingly sagged over a seat and left to hang freely, as though it had a real weight. It is an accessory to a plastic model, and the customer buys the basic kit separately.
Seat belts are the detail in the cabin of a helicopter that the eye notices first. Plastic models either do not contain them at all or have them only suggested on the shell of the seat. Photo-etched belts deal with this shortcoming, because they are correctly thin in scale and can be formed into a believably careless position. The set suits you even when you are building a model with the doors open or without a crew, when there is excellent seeing into the cabin.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and level the burrs with a fine file. Steel is springier than brass, so form it gradually and help yourself with tweezers with smooth jaws or with a toothpick, so that the belt is not dented. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue in gel form, which gives time for lining it up. If you are going to paint the belts, degrease the surface first and use a primer for metal, otherwise the paint holds poorly on steel. Bring the locks and the fittings out with a dark wash.
