Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous Japanese carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from Academy. The set uses a modern mold and contains plastic sprues, clear parts for the cockpit glazing and a decal sheet with period Japanese naval markings. The model captures the Model 21 variant with its characteristic folding wingtips for operating from aircraft carriers.
The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was the standard carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Second World War. Compared with the land-based variant, the Model 21 version had folding wingtips, an arrestor hook and equipment for long-range flights over the sea. It was these aircraft that took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor and in the fighting in the Pacific in 1941 and 1942. The light structure and the long range were paid for with weaker armor protection for the pilot.
Separate the parts from the sprues with a sharp knife and join them with a thin plastic cement. Finish and paint the cockpit first and only then close the fuselage. Mask the glazing before spraying so that the clear areas are kept. We recommend a base primer and laying the paints on with an airbrush in thin coats; a flat or semi-gloss varnish will even the surface out before the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
