1:48 Paint Masks For UH-1Y Venom Helicopter - Canopy And Windows is a sheet of stencils for the whole glazing of the helicopter cockpit, that is, for the front panels and the side and roof windows.
Responsibility details are not available.
Compared with a fighter, a helicopter has its glazed areas scattered over the whole fuselage and the frames between them form irregular polygons. Masking that by hand is exceptionally thankless. The sheet contains stencils for the front panels, the side windows of the cockpit, the glazing above the crew's heads and the windows of the cargo compartment, so all this work is cut down to a few minutes.
The UH-1Y is the newest descendant of the famous Huey family, which came about within the US Marine Corps upgrade program together with the AH-1Z attack helicopter. Compared with its predecessors it received a four-blade composite main rotor, more powerful engines and entirely new cockpit instrumentation. The result is more a new machine than a rebuild, and in service you recognize it by the markedly quieter and smoother running of the rotor.
Helicopter glazing is worth painting before the fuselage is assembled, because once it is glued you can no longer reach some of the windows. Lay the stencils from the largest part to the smallest and at the long straight edges press them down along their whole length, as otherwise the paint will run under in the middle. If you want to darken the glazing, apply a thin layer of smoke varnish before masking. After spraying, take the film off perpendicular to the glass, so that the frame does not peel off.
