A set of photo-etched parts intended for detailing a model of the German Jagdtiger tank destroyer in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model you already own. Aber is a Polish manufacturer specializing in fine photo-etch and turned barrels. Check the exact extent of the set and the number of parts against the illustration on the packaging — with photo-etched sets for armored vehicles these are usually the parts that cannot be produced in the correct thickness in injection-molded plastic.
The designation Sd.Kfz. 186 belongs to the Jagdtiger tank destroyer, which was created on the lengthened chassis of the Tiger II tank and carried a 12.8 cm gun in a fixed superstructure. It was the heaviest mass-produced vehicle of its kind from the Second World War period, built in only a small number. For a model that means massive, flat armor plates, on which it is exactly the small metal accessories that stand out — brackets, grab handles, grilles and sheet covers.
Degrease the fret before work and separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with cutters. Make the bends in a bender or between razor blades, always with a short and decisive movement; repeated bending in the same place tires the metal and the part cracks. They are glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate) in a minimal quantity, ideally applied with a pin. Use a primer for metal before painting. On a vehicle with large smooth surfaces it pays to leave the weathering until the end — washes and pigments take hold differently on photo-etch than on plastic.
