An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 type 10 fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in the popular ProfiPACK edition. Besides the plastic parts the box contains colored (pre-painted) photo-etched parts, masking film and decals for four marking options, so you have everything for a detailed build right in the box.
The Polikarpov I-16 was a Soviet single-seat fighter of the 1930s, one of the first production monoplanes with retractable landing gear and an enclosed forward fuselage. It was characterized by a short, stubby fuselage with a radial engine and by good agility. Type 10 was one of the widespread versions with strengthened armament. The I-16 saw combat in Spain, over China and in the early part of the war on the Eastern Front.
Use thin cement for plastic and finish and paint the cockpit interior before you close the fuselage; that is where the colored photo-etch shows best. Apply a primer before painting and lay the colors down with an airbrush; the masks included make crisp edges and clean glazing easier. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). On prewar schemes, restrained wear and emphasized panel lines work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
