This resin set from Aires, released under the Quickboost brand, brings replacement pitot tubes for a model of the Swedish SAAB J-29 Tunnan jet aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but a small refining accessory. The finely cast pitot tubes replace coarser plastic parts and give the nose a realistic look.
The SAAB J-29 Tunnan was a Swedish jet fighter of the beginning of the 1950s with a characteristically tubby fuselage, which earned it the nickname the flying barrel. It was one of the first European jet aircraft with a swept wing. The pitot tube on the nose sensed the airspeed.
Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off carefully and sand the surfaces with breathing protection. Glue the small pitot tubes with cyanoacrylate and take care when handling them so that they are not lost. Before fitting, the part can be strengthened and aligned accurately.
This is an accessory to a plastic model, not a kit on its own. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
