Pre-cut self-adhesive masks in 1:48 scale that set out the camouflage fields on a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I fighter. Variant F is one of several schemes the manufacturer offers for this type; the letter in the name always means a different layout of the fields, so the sets do not stand in for one another. The set is designed for the Eduard 11143 kit.
With a divided camouflage, the lighter of the two opaque shades is sprayed over the whole surface first. Only then are the fields that are to stay light covered with a mask, and the darker shade goes over them. The reverse procedure means more layers, worse coverage and a needlessly thick film of paint. Before you start spraying, offer the mask up dry and check that the pattern carries on across the leading edge and the wing root - a dry test takes a few minutes and saves respraying.
For builders of the Spitfire Mk.I in 1:48 scale who want to handle the camouflage pattern with a mask instead of spraying freehand or with string and modeling clay. A less experienced modeler can manage it, but an airbrush is practically a necessity.
The set contains masking material only. The model and the paints are obtained separately.
