A decal sheet with Polish markings for the later versions of the Hawker Hurricane, the second series of subjects.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hurricane lost its role as the main interceptor before 1941 was over – by then it was too slow against the new German types. Instead of retirement, though, it went to different work. The designers fitted it with a more powerful engine with a two-speed single-stage supercharger, rearmed it and sent it against ground targets, where its toughness and calm behavior in low flight paid off more than top speed.
The Mk.II designation covers several versions at once, which differ mainly in what they carry in the wing: twelve machine guns on one, four 20 mm cannons on another, a pair of heavy weapons for fighting armored vehicles on a third. The Mk.IV version then received the so-called universal wing, onto which rockets, bombs or drop tanks could be hung according to the task the aircraft was given that day.
The Polish units in British service moved onto these machines gradually from 1941 and flew night intruder sorties over the occupied continent as well as escorts with them. The sheet gathers the second series of their markings, that is the subjects that did not fit into the earlier release. For the builder it means being able to stand several machines of the same unit side by side without the national insignia repeating.
A decal softening solution helps over riveting and panel lines. The decal becomes supple after it and adheres even into the recesses; just do not move it until it has dried.
