A deck masking sheet 1:700 DKM Bismarck 1941 from Artwox Model is a set of self-adhesive templates for spraying the deck areas. An accessory to a kit, not a model. The target kit is the Trumpeter 05711.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet with pre-cut self-adhesive outlines of the deck areas for a model of the battleship Bismarck in her 1941 version in 1:700 scale. The templates match the deck of the Trumpeter 05711 kit, so check the match with your kit before buying. It is purely an aid for painting.
Masking most often fails because of the surface, not because of the template. First, therefore, clean the plastic deck of remains of sanding dust and grease from the fingers, ideally with lukewarm soapy water and a soft brush, and let it dry completely. A thin coat of primer follows, which gives the paint something to grip on smooth plastic and at the same time reveals any scratches before the covering paint hides them. Only onto a matured base does the deck shade go, and the mask onto that.
Mask before the fine photo-etched parts go onto the model. Railings, ladders and antennas are easily bent or torn off while the film is being stuck on and taken off, and the repair costs more time than painting the whole deck. Let the paint under the mask really mature, with acrylics at least a day and with enamels substantially longer, otherwise it will peel off when the mask is removed. If paint does flow under somewhere after all, let it dry and put it right with a brush, as scraping wet paint only does more damage.
The accessory is supplied on its own. The kit, paints, primer and glues are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
