A veneer deck for the British battlecruiser HMS Renown in her 1945 state in 1:700 scale from Artwox Model will replace the plastic deck of the Trumpeter 05765 kit with wooden veneer with the laying of the planks printed on it.

This is an aftermarket accessory, not a model of the ship. The package holds a wooden veneer with the printed laying of the deck planks and with a self-adhesive back, cut to the shape of the decks of the Trumpeter 05765 kit. It replaces the flat engraving of the deck on a plastic part with real wood.
HMS Renown was the lead ship of the class of the same name of British battlecruisers, completed still during the First World War. The main armament consisted of six 381 mm guns in three twin turrets, and the concept rested on high speed at the expense of armor. In the years 1936 to 1939 she went through an extensive reconstruction: new boilers and turbines, rebuilt superstructures and completely new secondary and anti-aircraft armament. The 1945 state matches the end of her service, when she carried very numerous light anti-aircraft armament.
On British ships with dense deck equipment it pays to plan the order of work in advance. Glue the veneer onto a bare deck before the railings, the winches and the additional parts are fitted; photo-etched railings are then attached into drilled holes through the veneer with a minimum of super glue. Before that, sand the engraving of the planks on the plastic smooth and degrease the area with alcohol. Pull the film off the back in sections and lay the veneer from the longitudinal axis. For parts that are to pass through an opening in the veneer, prick the position with a needle in advance, so that you do not have to cut blind.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model of the ship. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
