A plastic kit of the Japanese battleship Musashi in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Pit-Road. The boxing is listed in the form corresponding to 1944, that is the time of the fighting in Leyte Gulf. It is a conventional injection-molded kit meant to be assembled and painted, not a finished model and not an accessory for a model by another manufacturer.
The Musashi was the second completed ship of the Yamato class and together with her sister ship she was among the largest battleships ever built. The main armament consisted of nine 460 mm guns in three triple turrets, supplemented by secondary and anti-aircraft armament that was further strengthened during the war. The ship was sunk on 24 October 1944 in the Sibuyan Sea during the operations connected with the Battle of Leyte Gulf, after being hit by aerial bombs and torpedoes.
With ships in 1:700 scale it pays to decide in advance whether you will build the model full-hull or as a waterline version on a base imitating the sea; choose the way of fixing the hull accordingly. Paint the decks and the sides of the hull before you fit the small superstructures, otherwise you will reach the lower surfaces with neither a brush nor an airbrush. Fine railings, ladders and antenna systems can be replaced with photo-etched parts, which are sold separately. Check the masts and the barrels against drawings for alignment and glue the small parts with cyanoacrylate glue in small doses applied with a piece of wire. Keep the weathering restrained: at this scale a fine wash into the recesses and light emphasis of the edges are enough.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
