Wooden deck 1:700 for the IJN battleship Yamashiro (1944) is a veneer accessory with pre-printed plank laying and a self-adhesive backing, made for the plastic kit of the Japanese battleship Aoshima 002513 in its late configuration.
Responsibility details are not available.
An aftermarket set, not a kit. It holds a veneer cut-out of the decks in 1:700 scale with pre-printed plank laying and a self-adhesive layer on the back. It replaces the plastic deck on an Aoshima 002513 kit you already own. Compared with painting, veneer has the advantage that the wood grain is real and shifts as you look at it from different angles, which painted plastic cannot do.
Yamashiro was a Japanese battleship of the Fuso class, marked out by a very tall multi-level superstructure above the middle of the hull and by six twin turrets of the main battery. The year 1944 stands for the late configuration of the ship, when the light anti-aircraft armament was expanded and radars were added. The cut of the parts in this set matches exactly that configuration.
A veneer sheet needs careful handling even before the work starts. Store it flat, never rolled up or under other boxes, and keep it away from damp: veneer that has taken up moisture buckles and stays uneven once it is down. Let the package acclimatize in the room where you build. Lay the sheet from the longest straight edge, which you align against the outline of the deck, and work toward the opposite end. Press the edges around the turrets and the superstructure down with a wooden stick. Finally seal the surface with matte varnish.
This is an accessory for a ship kit, not a model on its own. The kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
